Privacy
SimCenter is monitoring software that runs on computers inside your business, so it necessarily sees a lot about them. This page says exactly what, rather than gesturing at “certain technical information”.
Who we are
SimCenter is operated by Martian Industries. Contact details are on the contact page. If you are a customer, you are the data controller for what your venue PCs report; we process it on your behalf to provide the service.
What your account holds
- Your email address, and a hash of your password. We never store the password itself and cannot recover it — only reset it.
- The names and locations you give your venues.
- Billing records held by Stripe. Card numbers never reach our servers.
What the agent reports from each PC
Every few minutes each station sends a scan. This is the honest list:
- The machine — hostname, disk space, graphics adapter, audio outputs, connected monitors and their models, screen resolution.
- Attached devices — USB hardware by vendor and product ID and the name Windows gives it, for wheelbases, pedals, launch monitors and the like.
- Network — the PC's own addresses and MAC addresses, its gateway, whether the internet is reachable and how well, and other devices visible on the venue network by MAC and IP.
- Software — running process names, used to tell whether the simulator software is alive. Not window contents, not what is on screen, not documents.
- Scheduled tasks that power the machine on or off, so a nightly shutdown is not mistaken for a fault.
- Security posture — whether antivirus is on and up to date, whether remote desktop is enabled, and any unresolved threat the machine has already detected itself.
- The Windows username currently signed in. This one is genuinely personal information, so it is worth being direct: SimCenter records it so the board can say whether anyone is at the rig. If that is not acceptable at your venue, tell us and we will turn it off for your account.
What is never collected
- No screen contents. No screenshots, no recording, no remote viewing without you starting a session yourself.
- No keystrokes. Ever.
- No files. We record how much disk space is free, never what is on it.
- No browsing history, documents, email, or anything belonging to a person using the PC.
- No customer data of yours beyond a booking's bay, start time and duration if you connect a scheduler — never your players' names or payment details.
Cameras and smart plugs
If you add a camera or a smart plug, any username and password you supply is stored so the agent inside your venue can use it. Those credentials are never sent back to a browser and never appear in any page or API response. Camera images are fetched only when you ask for one, and the most recent image is kept until it is replaced or you remove the camera.
How long we keep things
- Current state — the latest scan per station, kept while your account is open.
- Activity history — roughly the last 200 events per venue, then the oldest drop off.
- Backups — nightly snapshots kept for 30 days.
- After you close your account — deleted within 30 days, and gone from backups within a further 30.
Who else sees it
We do not sell data, and we do not use it for advertising. It is shared only with the services required to run SimCenter:
- DigitalOcean — hosting.
- Stripe — payments. They hold your card details; we do not.
- Your chosen alert channel — if you set up phone push or email alerts, the alert text goes to that service.
We will not hand over your data to anyone else unless the law requires it.
Security
Traffic between your stations and SimCenter is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored as scrypt hashes. Agent credentials are held server-side and never returned to a browser. Each station has its own token, revocable on its own.
We are a small company and we will not pretend otherwise: there is no third-party security certification behind this page. If you need one, tell us before you buy rather than after.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of everything held about your account, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — contact us and we will act within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your venues, stations and history.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will email account holders before it takes effect rather than quietly updating the date at the top.
